Almost Legal?

Almost Legal?

It looks like the wheels are in motion!

The long awaited new legislation for the legalization of recreational marijuana for all Canadians looks like it is finally coming to fruition. One of the popular platforms that then candidate, now Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised during our last Federal election in 2015.

The liberal party is set to announce the new legislation next month that will legalize marijuana as early as July 1st, 2018! With some stipulations attached of course.

Marijuana safety will be controlled at a federal level to ensure safety and security, each province will be in charge of pricing and distribution. Provinces will also be able to set the minimum age to purchase. This means where you buy it and how old you must be can differ from province to province much like current tobacco and liquor laws.

If you are looking to grow your own stash note each household will be limited to 4 plants.

This all sounds very promising, but don't get ahead of yourself. Even though great strides are being made to legalize, the rules and regulations will still need to be in place before anything can happen.

"Until we have a framework to control and regulate marijuana, the current laws apply," Trudeau said in Halifax March 1.

Fingers crossed Canada Day 2018 will be the greatest celebration yet!
